Vata dominant people are sensitive and delicate in the nervous system. They take on stress easily and internalize life events.
Vata is the queen of the doshas. She affects all aspects of your body and mind. She must be treated so for she holds the key to many health concerns.
There are five sub doshas of Vata:
Prana governs the senses. When fatigued or depleted, prana vata can lead to excessive worry, an mind that does not stop, sleep disturbances and breathing issues.
Udana governs memory, perception and the throat center. Imbalanced Udana can lead to respiratory problems, fatigue, throat and ear issues.
Samana governs digestion and is responsible for separating nutrients from waste. Imbalanced Samana Vata can cause constipation, gassiness and bloating.
Apana is the seat of Vata dosha and is located in the pelvic cavity. All things below the navel are governed by Apana. Menstrual issues, conception, childbirth, semen production are all powered by the proper function of Apana Vata.
Vyana circulated blood and is located in the heart. It governs our emotions, nervous system and muscular relaxation. Tremors, anxiety, increased or decreased heartbeats are signs of imbalanced Vyana.
Vata Care - Since air and space are dry, dark and rough, we need proper oleation of the orifices and senses. Food needs to be warm, soupy and well-cooked to aid good digestion. Vata people are soothed by touch and warmth. They thrive on routines and structure.
Cozy spaces that are not overly stimulating, that aid rest and grounding are best for Vata folks. Meditation is a wonderful daily Vata pacifying practice, as well as Yin yoga and time in Nature.
