Sesame Salt

I treat this as a condiment. Sprinkle on salads, soups, on eggs, roasted vegetables and on toast.

Ingredients

3/4 cup raw sesame seeds

1 1/2 tsp sea salt

Dry toast the seeds in a small skillet on medium low heat. Stir frequently till they change color to a light brown shade. Turn off the heat and let it cool. Place the seeds in a mortar and pestle in two batches and add the salt. Coarsely grind and store in a container with a tight-fitting lid.

It is important to grind the seeds, which will make it easier to breakdown and digest.

Steamed Vegetables

Ingredients

1/2 cup chopped zucchini

1/2 cup chopped green cabbage

1/2 cup chopped broccoli

1 small carrot

One tsp sesame oil Sea salt and pepper for seasoning

Fill a pot with 2 oz of water and place the steaming basket with the vegetables on top. Cover with a tight-fitting lid. Once the water boils, the vegetables will take about 7-9 minutes to steam. Remove the vegetables from the steamer and drizzle with sesame oil and a small amount of sea salt and pepper. Serve immediately.
